Jogjakarta or Yogjakarta is one of cities which is located in special region of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta ( DIY ). This city, with its unique and rich of culture, could attract many tourist to visit it. Jogjakarta is founded in 1755, marked by the establisment of Sultan Kingdom, with its first king Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I. As old city, there are still many old heritage buildings stand here and its surrounding. Those are not only from 18th century but also from previous centuries. In arround 16th century, Jogjakarta was the center of Mataram Islam kingdom while further back in 8th century it was the center of civilization influenced by Hinduism and Buddhism. It can be seen from the old temple whic are found in Prambanan, Ratu Boko, kalasan and surrounding area.
jogjakarta city is the special region, because during the independence war, Jogjakarta became the revolutionary capital city of indonesia from 1946 to 1949, when Jakarta still occupied by the Dutch. and jogjakarta played a major role in independence process of Indonesia. This city also become so populer and famous as an education city, because the first state university in indonesia was frounded here, that is Gajah Mada University.
How to come to Jogjakarta, is easy, by plane, This city has airport which serves International ( origin From kuala lumpur and Singapore ) and domestic (origin from Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Sumatra, Kalimantan,and Sulawesi. By bus, from origin cities in java, you could take a regular bus to reach this city. Also can be reached by train. There are many things to do here, enjoy the city, relax, see the culture and traditional arts as one of your destination in Indonesia. Generally, Jogjakarta is a low land with a near access to Borobudur, Prambanan, mount Merapi, and many others tourism objects.
In This city, you will find the some transportation choice to bring you to travel arround the city. the traditional one is the favourite one. Local traditional transportation that still we could find there, are Becak ( pedicab ) and Andong ( Horse carriage ). The tarif is not fix, it can be bargained, the tarif is depend on the distance you will go for travelling.
#Becak, For 1 Becak ( pedicad ) could carry two passanger, ussually asian people, but for tourist, ussually for one passanger. To go travelling by becak, it would be nice in the morning or in the afternoon.
#Andong , Horse carriage, this is also one of favourite local traditional transportation, ussually, will bring local people who want to go to traditional market. 1 andong, it could be for four until five passangers, depend on how big is the passanger.

#Sultan Palace of Jogjakarta, is the palace or can be called “Kraton”, used to be the central of Jogjakarta kingdom, besides, this palace also as tourism object.
#Taman Sari, can be called “Water Palace”, is located approximately 1 km to the southwest of Kraton Jogjakarta. This is a one of heritage buildings was built during 1758-1765. Formerly, it was functioned as a recreation facility of Sultan and his family, now this building became tourism object.
#Vredeburg Fortress museum, This museum was used to be Dutch army fortress built by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I in 1760 as requested by the Duct Government. In 1788 it was restored and named Rustenberg, meaning refreshment fortress. And In 1867 it was restored again due to the earthquake and the name it was changed into Vredeburg, meaning peacefull fortress.
#Gedung Agung Presiden Palace, is a one of Presiden palaces ( the total are 6 palaces ) which is located in front of Vredeburg Fortress on JL.Ahmad Yani, Jogjakarta. This building is the colonial style was built in 1842 as Dutch Residence. During independence war, when Jogjakarta became the temporary capital city of Indonesia, it became the official residence and the main office of Indonesia Government. For tourist who want to visit this Palace, must have special permit.
#Gembiraloka ZOO and Park, is located on the east side of Jogjakarta city. In this Zoo, you fill find more than 60 rare species of plants collections like, silk cotton tree, forest candlenut, siperes, and many others. And also more than 311 kinds of animal collections, like Sumateran Tiger, Anoa, Elephants, Komodo dragon and many others.
#Malioboro, is not complete, if you visit Jogjakarta city without visiting Malioboro. Malioboro is the main street in Jogjakarta, and you will find many people along the street selling the traditional food on food stall, Souvenir, and many others thing. Also can be called as the longest market in Jogjakarta. Arround the street, there are some restaurants, Stars hotels until budget hotels.
#Purawisata, is recreation park and amusement center in Jogjakarta city. In this place, you can watch the Great performance of Ramayana Ballet on the evening after dinner time. Purawisata also serve wedding party, restaurant, and the recreation park such as waterboom ( open in the morning till afternoon ).
#Ngasem Bird market, is one of favourite tourism destinations jogjakarta. You will see many local people here selling the birds, and other various of animals like, fresh water fish, dogs, cats, and others kinds of pets.
#Klithikan Second hand Good’s Market, is one of traditional market which is selling the antique, electronics, mobile phones, households, convections, spare parts, and many others. All item which are selling here are second hand, but some shop also sells the new product. In this market, is not only to buy, but you can also could sell something second hand. Everybody here has same chance to bargain the price, show your bargaining skill to get the cheapest price, have a nice shopping.
#KotaGede, from the name, the meaning is Big City, is Located at the shouthern part of Jogjakarta city. KotaGede is the administrative district of the same name in Jogjakarta city. Here, there some interests places to be visited, such as king cemetery, Mataram Grand mosque, Javanese traditional house, Traditional market. in KotaGede also very famous with its Silver smith, is nice to be there, and buy some silver collection as a souvenir from jogjakarta.
#Batik Village, BAtik is waxing traditional thecnique on the fabric to became a cloth, its originally from indonesia. Its recognized officially by UNESCO in 2009. Batik also has some various of colour and motif, there are three type of Batik, those are Drawing Batik, Stamp Batik, and combination between Drawing and stamp Batik. In Batik village, is not only to buy Batik collections here, but also you could see the process how to make a Batik and you have a chance to practise how to waxing on the fabric.
